The Gold Coast of Mercer Island

East Mercer Way, between 76th Ave SE and 84th Ave SE

Locals call it the Gold Coast, and once you see it, you'll know why. This stretch of East Mercer Way runs along the eastern shoreline of Mercer Island, directly facing Lake Washington and the Bellevue skyline. It's one of the most desirable residential stretches in the entire Pacific Northwest.

Why it matters:

• The street ends here are legendary for Seafair. There are 9 street ends along West Mercer Way, but the top 5 closest to the action are between SE 64th and SE 68th. Each one offers direct water access where you can set up chairs, drop a kayak, or just sit on the shoreline and watch the Blue Angels roar overhead.
• On a clear day, you can see Mount Rainier to the south, the Bellevue skyline to the east, and downtown Seattle to the west. It's one of the few places where you get all three in one view.
• The homes along this stretch are some of the most coveted on Mercer Island. Waterfront estates, private docks, and views that make you stop and stare. Many of these homes have been in families for decades.

The street ends (public access points):

• SE 64th Street End — one of the most popular Seafair viewing spots
• SE 65th Street End — slightly less crowded, great water access
• SE 66th Street End — wide shoreline, good for families with kids
• SE 67th Street End — quieter, locals' favorite
• SE 68th Street End — southernmost of the top 5, close to Groveland Park

What to bring for Seafair:

• Intertubes, floats, and towels
• Sunscreen and hats
• Snacks and drinks (no stores nearby)
• Refreshing wine, bubbles, or your favorite local brew
• Chairs or blankets
• Arrive early, parking is limited and gets worse as the weekend nears

Groveland Beach Park

7740 SE 58th St, Mercer Island, WA 98040

Groveland Beach Park is a top free viewing spot for the Blue Angels during Seafair weekend. It's located mid-island on the eastern shore, with direct views of Lake Washington and the flight path.

What to know before you go:

• Capacity limit: Max 500 people on a first-come, first-served basis, enforced by city staff. It sells out every year.
• Parking: Street parking around the park is unavailable during Seafair weekend. Arrive early or plan to walk.
• No dogs allowed at public swimming areas from May 1 through September 30.
• No lifeguards on duty during this time.
• Jet flights are loud. Keep pets indoors or secure during practice and show times.

Aubrey Davis Park

North end of Mercer Island, along I-90

Located on the north end of Mercer Island, right along I-90. This is one of the best free Seafair viewing spots on the island. Great open park areas facing the western waters of Lake Washington. Easy to get to, plenty of space, and a perfect view of the Blue Angels flying over the lake. One of the most popular spots, so arrive early.

Carillon Point, Kirkland

1170 Carillon Point, Kirkland, WA 98033

If you want to watch Seafair from the east side of Lake Washington, Carillon Point in Kirkland is one of the best spots. Waterfront views, restaurants nearby, and a completely different perspective than the Mercer Island spots. You'll see the Blue Angels heading toward you from across the lake.
